about

a week or two after mum's funeral my dad and i went on a trip around the west coast of the south island. i wrote most of this song on that trip and obviously it is filled with that feeling

there are two versions: the song itself, and the song with most of the guitars and the singing removed (aka 'shadow self')

i don't really know much about how music works but i think this song is in E major mostly? the tempo is by design all over the place (i didn't use a click track or metronome or anything)

it is made up of:

- three acoustic guitar tracks (squier nylon string guitar)
- three electric guitar tracks (squier bullet strat)
- one acoustic guitar track pitched down and filtered (squier)
- four vocal tracks (me)
- two synthesiser tracks (korg ms20 mini)
- one theremin track (moog theremini)
- one track of radio noise, contact mic feedback, and a popping sound caused by a digital delay unit pushed beyond its limit, all fed through a spring reverb (koma field kit and field kit fx)
